Denis Rusakov Sandblasted Fish w/ Boxwood Estate Briar Pipe, Other Estates
Out of stock
Description
Moscow artisan Denis Rusakov began making pipes in 2014, which appears to have been a relatively smooth extension of his previous labors as a metalworker. In the years since, he has emerged as one of several highly talented pipe-makers in the region. This particular pipe gives a good indication of those talents. The inspiration behind it looks to be pretty clear: the work of the late, great Lars Ivarsson. Much like his father, Sixten Ivarsson, Lars was a true pioneer in pipe making, creating a variety of novel shapes that would later be adapted as artisan staples. His “fish” shape, with its bulbous bowl and long, flowing, teardrop shank was but one of them. This Rusakov fish is a worthy homage to the Danish master, adding to its basic form a crisp, ring grain, contrast stain sandblast and a swirling ebonite stem.
The condition is very good. Some minor darkening on the back rim.
