Description

Copley’s Pipe and Tobacco was one of Los Angeles’ historic tobacconists, founded all the way back in 1890. The shop was a retailer for a variety of esteemed makes from across the Atlantic, including Barling, Comoy’s Dunhill, Sasieni in England, and Peterson in Ireland. The shop also had pipes made specially for it, which were sold under the Copley’s name. It would not be unreasonable to assume that one of the aforementioned makes manufactured this as a Copley’s house brand, especially as at least one recorded example exists of a Copley’s made by GBD. As for who made this one, it’s difficult to say. The design is eminently classical, taking the form of a lightweight, eight-paneled billiard, which was a staple shape in Anglo-French briars in the early 20th century. I’d imagine that it’s quite an old piece, and a good looking one at that.

The condition is good. Some rim darkening and handling marks, but nothing major.
