Comoy’s Black Coral 83551 Rusticated Cutty Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates
Out of stock
Description
Comoy’s is a historic brand in pipe making, and possibly the most historic brand in the making of briar pipes. Though originally founded in 1825 by a French family from Saint Claude, France, production of Comoy’s pipes was soon moved to London, England, where it established itself as one of the quintessential English pipe companies.
It took them a while, but eventually the more esteemed English pipe makers came around to the idea of rusticated finishes on high-quality pipes. Perhaps in response to Ferndown at home, or Castello abroad, this particular Comoy’s is dressed is a nicely applied, pebble-dash partial rustication and burgundy finish. It’s a good, lightweight piece, too, making for an easy clencher.
The condition is very good. Some rim darkening and finish fading.
