BBB Fiesta 304 Smooth Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
‘BBB’ originally stood for ‘Blumfeld’s Best Briars’, so named after Louis Blumfeld after he took over the historic Alfred Frankenau Company in 1856. Later, the pipes came to be known as ‘Britain’s Best Briars’. Though the name might have changed, the quality of the pipes did not – they really were fantastic pipes, made in the classic style of the English-French shape chart. Like GBD, Dunhill, and Barling’s, BBB are pipes with a rich history behind them, proudly holding the title of “the oldest trade mark in the [pipe] industry.”
The Fiesta was a line of BBB pipes made several decades ago, and has long since been discontinued. While the name might suggest extravagance, the design, as seen here, was quite reserved, pairing a wine-red contrast finish with a vulcanite stem, with the latter being inlaid with rings of acrylic and brass. As for the rest of the design for this pipe, it’s a classic bent billiard—tried and true, and pretty hard to beat, even among the post-war Danish staples.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating, having come to us in a batch of new old stock pipes from a shop closure. There’s a couple of very light, superficial scratches on the bowl, but nothing major.
