SON tobacco pipes represent an early chapter in the career of Danish pipe maker Erik Nørding. The name was formed from the surnames of Nørding and his original business partner, Skovbo, with the Danish word “og”—meaning “and”—between them.
Skovbo eventually left the partnership, while Nørding continued producing SON pipes for a year or two before establishing the Nørding name familiar to collectors today. Surviving SON pipes often display the freehand shaping, plateau treatments, and attention to briar grain associated with the developing Danish style of the period.
MBSD’s SON pipes are estate examples acquired through collections, purchases, and our trade-in program. Availability is limited, reflecting the brand’s relatively brief place in Danish pipe-making history.
