G. Penzo 2024 Rusticated Nosewarmer w/ Boxwood Estate Briar Pipe, Irish Estates
Out of stock
Description
Here is something you do not see everyday: a pipe by Giacomo Penzo. Penzo has been an artisan for over a decade now, but his production is especially limited. That’s because, since 2019, he’s worked for Peterson over in Ireland, where he’s their Pipe Specialist. The downside of this is that there have been far fewer G. Penzo pipes available to those who want them; the upside is that Penzo has designed, at least in my opinion, some of the best special-release Peterson pipes in recent memory.
This particular Penzo is a stubby, nosewarmer Lovat, one which is supremely lightweight, making for an easy clencher and a perfect pocket pipe. The pipe wears a lovely, tactile, pebble-dash rustication, which I suppose shows that you can take the pipe maker out of Italy, but you can’t take the Italy out of a pipe maker. Originally finished with a near-naked natural finish, the pipe has, like Savinelli and its Punto Oro Corallo, or Castello and its Natural Vergin, begun to take on a golden patina, which should look even more enticing after spending time with its next owner. The design is completed with a boxwood accent and hand-cut cumberland stem, more in keeping with artisan pipes.
The condition is great. Some minor darkening on the rim.
