Savinelli Estella 915 Rusticated Lumberman Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
The Estella is a genuine cult classic within the Savinelli catalog, one that is only more so for being briefly produced many decades ago. It was, as seen on this example, a rusticated line whose finish is somewhere between the granular approach of Castello’s Sea Rock and Caminetto’s “wax drip” New Dear lines. But, for some reason, the Estella was quickly discontinued. This one is an especially craggy rendition of Savinelli’s shape 915 Dublin-Lumberman hybrid, which itself is a shape that’s also no longer produced by Savinelli, save for their Luisa Fiammata line (produced using legacy stock stummels from years ago). In classic Estella fashion, it pairs a dark brown finish with a golden Lucite stem.
The condition is good. Some rim darkening and finish fading.
