It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

As was once tradition for many of the great 19th and 20th century pipe companies, Savinelli offers a limited-edition pipe at Christmas time, with theirs going by the name of the “Saint Nicholas.” The design is always festive, but always different. For 2025, the Italian mainstay has opted for a very classical Christmas motif, combining their dark, craggy, house rusticated finish with hues of of scarlet, silver, and fir-tree green—the latter being custom-cast acrylic made specially for this year’s Saint Nicholas release.

Like most contemporary Savinelli pipes, this one has a tenon that will fit 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, or will perform perfectly well without a filter if preferred.
