Sasieni Trafalgar 41 Sandblasted Billiard Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]

Out of stock

Description

Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes – one near to its very beginnings. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since.

Sasieni always had particularly exacting standards for its pipes, even within the English pipe scene, so when a bowl was found to have even the tiniest, superficial imperfection, the bowl would be used for one of Sasieni’s many sub-brands. This Trafalgar is an example of that, but as can be seen, it is a pipe as elegant as most of the main-line offerings seen from other makes. The sandblasting is deep and crisp, and reminiscent of other great English makes such as the earlier pipes of Dunhill or Charatan. The ruby-brown stain is subtle and reserved, and the vulcanite stem is perfectly cut. It’s also only 34 grams, making it an ideal clenching pipe.

The condition is excellent. Aside from a tiny bit of inner rim darkening, there isn’t much to evince that this pipe is pre-smoked at all.
