Peterson 2021 Christmas Pipe, Rathbone, Estate Briar Pipe, Irish Estates [SOLD OUT]

Description

Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.

Peterson’s annual Christmas Pipe for 2021 was one of my favorites for a long time. The mixture of a coffee-hued stain and copper collar was just perfect. It had an old-world look to it, with the right mixture of distinction and reserve in its design. They were, simply, elegant pipes, and I made sure to get myself a couple at the time. I was glad to see this one come in so that I could present it to our customers without having to sacrifice one of my own.

The shape is from Peterson’s famous Sherlock Holmes series, this model being the Rathbone. It’s a very traditional bent billiard, with quite a bit of size and heft to it. Perfect for evenings by the fire, or wherever one chooses to relax with a pipe.

I don’t recall what the box used for the 2021 Christmas pipe looked like, so the one this one came with may not be original. The condition, however, is excellent. There’s a little darkening on the inner lip of the rim, but it’s minimal, and quite hard to notice in any case.
