Papa Bear’s Pipes by Tim Beaumont Sandblasted Wave Handmade Briar Pipe, New

Description
Papa Bear’s Pipes are made by North American artisan Tim Beaumont. Beaumont has been making pipes since 2018, cultivating a unique style that isn’t afraid to mix and match design elements and to create something completely out of the ordinary.
If you’ve been following Beaumont’s work, you’ll know that he’s been having a bit of a Danish streak recently, exploring forms that are heavily inspired by the greats of post-war Scandinavian pipe making. This is one such pipe. Carved from strawberry briar, or arbutus, known for its unique textures when sandblasted, the shaping on this one follows a path first established by Bo Nordh, with his lesser known “seahorse” or “wave” shapes, and which has in more recent decades been further explored by artisans such as Kent Rasmussen, Lasse Skovgaard, and Geiger. Beaumont uses the distinctive striations of strawberry briar to create a striking rendition, whose grain mirrors the shaping of the bowl as it moves forward and folds back upon itself—just like its rolling namesake. At its other end, the pipe’s shank is capped with a black ebonite accent and a matching, hand-cut ebonite stem.
