Description

Orlik was an English pipe manufacturer founded in 1899 by Louis Orlik. While originally the company’s mission was to produce low-cost pipes, the make would ultimately be known for the distinctly high quality of their products. Consequently, Orlik pipes are today a favorite among pipe smokers and collectors, especially those who prefer the hobby’s Great British classics.

While today contrast stains are typically associated with Danish pipe makers and their international successors, English factory briars have their own tradition when it comes to such finishes. Orlik’s Golden Contrast was one such example. While slightly lighter in hue than its Scandinavian counterparts, this Golden Contrast prince nonetheless manages to use its finish to bring its grain patterns into dazzling relief, showcasing a good mixture of flame grain and bird’s-eye. Taking the form of a very classic prince, the pipe is promises to be as easy on the jaw as it is on the eyes. On a final note, based on the stamping and brass “O” stem inlay, this pipe should be pre-1980 and therefore pre-Cadogan, as the popular dating scheme goes.

Thee condition is good. Some wear to the rim, including finish fading and light charring of the lip of the chamber, and slight handling marks.
