Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our new series of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts or spigot mounts.

As I have said time and time again, I am a great fan of meerschaum pipes that take cues from shapes more commonly associated with briars. And quite fittingly, just last night we listed an estate from an artisan that was a profound influence on the shape of this Deluxe meer. That artisan’s name was Rolando Negoita – who, sadly, passed a few years back – and the shape is known as the “whale.” Negoita, who took inspiration from all manner of things, was a pioneer of the shape, which took its name and form from that marine mammal. For this pipe, my carver and I thought an homage to the low slung, breaching figure of Negoita’s signature, while adding some extra, distinctly Turkish flair, by way of hand-carved latticework.
