Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our line of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts or spigot mounts.

The acorn, at least in the modern sense, is a shape that goes back to the post-war Scandinavian artisan scene, and to pioneering figures such as Sixten Ivarsson. The traditional acorn goes back even further, but it’s the modern variant that’s had the most profound effect on today’s artisan briars. As with many of our meerschaum pipes, the design for this one was heavily influenced by those briars and, in this case, to contemporary re-imaginings of the modern acorn. Part vase, part sitter, and, of course, part plump nut of old oak, the design pays homage to master artisans such as Ping Zhan, Li Zhesong, Abe Herbaugh, and Micah Cryder of Yeti Pipes, among others. Unlike most acorn shapes, this one also features a sterling silver army mount and a reverse calabash system, with an extra chamber inside the shank, to ensure an even cooler, drier smoke.
