Mario Grandi Smooth Magnum Freehand Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Mario Grandi pipes are made by Italy’s Pierluigi family, headed by Aldo Pierluigi, an artisan pipe-maker since the 1970s. The Pierluigi family are also responsible for the Pierluigi make, as well as Mastro Beraldi.
There are magnum pipes and there are magnum pipes. I’d say this one falls into the latter category. While it reaches a not-unheard of length of nearly 8 inches, it is the sheer breadth of the bowl that takes this pipe into a whole other realm of heft than others like it (the closest comparison would be something like the Big Line from Castello, for example). I would have to imagine that part of the reason this pipe is so large is that the plateaux briar block used to make it shows off excellent flame grain, which has been captured via a paneled exterior and a very light, natural stain.
The condition is great. Some minor scratches around the bowl.
