Description
With a legacy spanning several decades, J.M. Boswell has solidified his place as a distinguished artisan among the top of American pipe making. Hailing from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Boswell’s journey into the world of pipe craftsmanship began in the early 1970s. Fueled by a passion for both art and tobacco, he embarked on a quest to create affordable pipes that would stand the test of time. Ultimately, Boswell ended up creating pipes that, while comparatively affordable next to other major artisans, would become cult favorites, with his work being highly sought after and selling out almost as quickly as it was (and continues to be) made.
J.M. Boswell makes pipes in a variety of styles, but few encapsulate the old school, American-made ethos of his work than his army mount pieces. And this is because, when he makes an army mount pipe, he uses a genuine shell casing—in this instance, a Winchester 12 gauge. The overall design of this one is pure “Boswell,” though. Along with its Winchester mount, it’s a palm-filling, stout, hand-carved apple, with bird’s-eye covering its bowl, a “laid back” figure, and a coffee-swirl acrylic stem that complements the tones of the brass mount and golden finish perfectly.
The condition is very good. Some rim darkening, with just a slight bit of charring at the back lip of the rim, and minor handling marks.
