Description
Pavel “Eclesias” Holub works in a variety of styles, and with a variety of mediums. To those who are new to his work, it possesses a surprising versatility. To those already familiar, however, they know both that each Eclesias is likely to be different from the last, and that it will be well executed. This volcano for example, evocative of contemporary Danish masters such as Lasse Skovgaard or Kent Rasmussen, manages to pull off a highly distinctive and unorthodox shape in a way that is well proportioned and appears completely natural—just as the Danes are able to. Instead of Holub’s signature “Dragon Scale” sandblast, this one features a more restrained natural blast finish, though not without lining the ring grain with the continuous contours of the bowl and shank. The bowl is joined by a mount carved from boxwood (again, very Danish), while the stem is hand-cut German acrylic.
The condition is great. Some very minor inner rim darkening.
