Barling T.V.F. 5697 Military Mount Straight Billiard Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]

Out of stock

Description

Barling and Sons was originally founded in 1812 by Benjamin Barling and began as a family business making silver-adorned meerschaum pipes. In the early 20th century, however, the Barling family began to produce what the brand is today most famous for – expertly made briar pipes.

I m quite fond of this Barling. The design proportions are rather old-world, being reminiscent of the kinds of pipes that were produced before things like saddle spacing and the proportions of the billiard bowl became as standardized as they are today. It is also a genuinely nice pipe on its own merits; a wonderfully lightweight, semi-stack billiard with a sterling silver military mount and a simple black vulcanite stem.

The condition is also very good. The rim has some minor darkening and finish fading, and the last letter of the sterling hallmark has worn over time to the point where I cannot accurately date it, but these are superficial things nonetheless.
