Brazil

Brazil has become an important center for contemporary high-grade tobacco pipes, producing pipe makers whose work has earned international recognition. Notable Brazilian names include Gustavo “marTelo” Cunha, Flavia Rodrigues, Luiz Lavos, and Emanuel de Queiroz Emiliano.

Brazilian pipes often draw from Danish and broader Scandinavian design while developing identities of their own. The work represented at MBSD ranges from lightweight classics and grain-oriented smooths to asymmetric freehands and original signature shapes. Bamboo, horn, bone, Jupati, and other accent materials may appear alongside briar and hand-shaped ebonite stems.

MBSD’s current selection places particular emphasis on Emiliano, whose work combines precise engineering with elegant proportions and an individual approach to shaping. This category may also include estate or unsmoked estate tobacco pipes by Brazilian makers when they reach us through collectors or other secondary-market sources.
