What we today know as “Danish” pipe making was, more or less, invented by Swedish pipe makers. Arguably the most influential post-war pipe makers of all time were Sixten Ivarsson, who was born in Sweden and retained his Swedish nationality throughout his life, and Bo Nordh, whose pioneering pipes emerged from his workshop in Landskrona. And while Denmark has produced dozens of legendary artisans over the last 80 years, Swedish pipe makers have remained at the forefront of the high-grades scene, right next to their Danish counterparts. From Arne Ljung to Bjorn Bengtsson, and from Geiger to Lomma, Swedes have continued to show that so-called “Danish” pipe making would be much better known as “Scandinavian” pipe making.

Jonas Rosengren is another Swedish artisan who has kept Sweden firmly on the map as far as pipe making is concerned. A woodworking teacher by trade, Rosengren would end up traveling across his native soil to visit Gurra Markunger, Ronny Thunér, Bengt Carlson, Anders Vollmer and Martin Nilsson (of Vollmer & Nilsson), and Sara Mossberg and Love Geiger (of Geiger) to learn the fundamentals of pipe making, whether this was in the form of mastering techniques, procuring materials, or setting up a good, high-grade pipe workshop. Since 2010, Rosengren has rightly earned himself a place alongside his compatriots, with the only downside being his very limited production of around 50 pipes per year. This asymmetrical, “tipsy” looking acorn shows off Rosengren’s wildly impressive technical skills, alongside a seemingly innate Swedish creativity.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It comes with its original leather sleeve.
