Description

I am relatively sure this is a Jeantet pipe, Jeantet being a French pipe manufacturer with a history stretching back as far as the 18th century, even before briar became the standard for French pipe making. However, I also think this is a post-1987 Jeantet, having been made after Jeantet was acquired by Cuty Fort/Chapuis-Comoy & Cie, who are most famous for manufacturing Chacom pipes. One strong tell here is that the design is near-identical to the Chacom Volute series. Chapuis-Comoy have used Jeantet as a sub-brand before, so it would make sense for this to be a sub-brand iteration of a Volute. Somewhere between a scoop, a cobra, a sitter, and a golf pipe (the Paddy Larrigan kind, not the nosewarmer), it is unusual, but certainly not without its charm.

The condition is good. Some darkening and general wear to the rim and a few scratches around the bowl.
