Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our series of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts or spigot mounts.

Though I’m partial to translating iconic briar pipe shapes into meerschaum, I’ve never lost sight of the fact that, as a subtractive art form, meerschaum carving has historically been intimately connected with sculpture. In other words, the best meerschaum carvers are essentially highly talented sculptors, capable of rendering designs in their chosen medium that are next to impossible in others. Rather than being inspired by briar shapes, this Deluxe is both a more “architectural” and a distinctly meerschaum-based design: a tall, stack, or chimney, carved to imitate the brickwork of its namesake. The pipe also features a sterling silver mounted reverse calabash system, contributing to a cooler, drier, smoke.
