Heidemann 1992 Smooth Slightly Bent Dublin Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]

Out of stock

Description

According to my research, Heidemann pipes were made by an American artisan called either Craig or Gary Heidemann. Very few records exist of Heidemann’s pipes, but those that do show him (if it was indeed a him) to have been a talented carver.

I’m afraid I can’t give much of a background to this pipe, as I don’t have that information. If anyone reading this does know more about Heidemann pipes, I would love to hear it.

What I do know, however, is that this pipe is really nice. Heidemann clearly knew what he or she was doing; the bowl seems to have been carved freehand, with careful attention paid to the grain of the briar, while the horn extension and stem are expertly fashioned. The result is an excellent artisan creation, a straight grain Dublin/pot that does well to represent the achievements of the Danish-American pipe-making approach. I’m quite tempted to keep it for myself, actually.
