There are some artisans who are well known and widely acclaimed for their sandblasting techniques. Bill Taylor of Ashton, J.T. Cooke, Lee Von Erck, and so on. The reason these figures are so well known for their sandblasts is not just because they mastered pre-existing techniques, but went so far as to create their own. Pavel Holub’s Eclesias pipes display a similar ingenuity, with his “Dragon Scale” sandblasting producing results that are as tactile and densely layered as their namesake.

This poker, for example, combines Holub’s signature sandblasting approach, along with a deep contrast stain, with an otherwise eminently functionalist staple: the poker. Compact enough for everyday carry and lightweight enough to clench (especially with its hand cut cumberland stem), it is at once a highly distinctive and thoroughly easy going piece.
