Vauen Cumberland 169 Smooth Liverpool Estate Briar Pipe, 9mm, German Estates

Out of stock

Description

Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.

As evinced by the white dot, or weißer Punkt, on its stem (not to be confused with Dunhill’s White Spot), the Cumberland was one of Vauen’s higher end lines, though I’m fairly sure it has been discontinued for several years. Available in a variety of finishes (this appearing to be the light smooth variant), the Cumberland was defined by its twin silver collars and by its stem, though it should be noted that the stem was cut from cumberland colored Lucite rather cumberland ebonite.

The condition is good. Some slight inner rim darkening and minor handling marks. The pipe is chambered to allow for 9mm filters, such as Vauen’s own, and comes with an adapter for non-filtered use if preferred.
