Eclesias Pipes “Dragon Scale” Sandblasted Acorn w/ Wenge Handmade Briar Pipe, New
Out of stock
Description
There are some artisans who are well known and widely acclaimed for their sandblasting techniques. Bill Taylor of Ashton, J.T. Cooke, Lee Von Erck, and so on. The reason these figures are so well known for their sandblasts is not just because they mastered pre-existing techniques, but went so far as to create their own. Pavel Holub’s Eclesias Pipes display a similar ingenuity, with his “Dragon Scale” sandblasting producing results that are as tactile and densely layered as their namesake.
This one is a highly unique rendition of the iconic Danish acorn. Rendered in lightweight, almost nosewarmer-length proportions, it is dressed in a light, natural finish, which is juxtaposed with a stem hand cut from jet black Lucite. Between the two sits a ferrule turned from African Wenge wood (also known as faux ebony), tempering the contrast between the two with its black and tan striations.
