Description

I’ve said before that meerschaum carving is essentially the fine art of sculpture applied to pipes (though this practice has also been applied to briars and other woods in the past), and this one from Turkey’s Servi Meerschaum is another example of that. It takes up the centuries-old motif of the clown for its form, though with a more modern, 20th century iteration of that archetype. The pipe is very large, which has provided even more material for its carver to show off their skills, right down to the hair draped down the funnyman’s head.

The condition is very good. Some minor wear to the rim. The pipe comes with its original case.
