Savinelli Gigantes 811 EX, Rusticated Billiard Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]

Out of stock

Description

It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously produced high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

While I do not speak very much Italian, sometimes one does not need to in order to understand a maker’s intentions. This is one of Savinelli’s Gigantes line, a no longer produced series of pipes that were, as might be guessed, quite large. While not quite a magnum size, the Gigantes were nevertheless very big pipes made in a variety of finishes. Some were smooth, some were lightly rusticated, and some, like this one, were deeply rusticated, much like Savinelli’s Rock Briar, Corallo, and Capri lines. In this case, the rocky, coral-like rustication has been paired with a deep red stain.

Though it is nearly six and a half inches in length, this pipe is surprisingly light, at just over 50 grams. It’s also immaculately preserved, with even the delicate stem logo remaining intact. While it might not be a clencher, this pipe will be perfectly suited for long, relaxing smokes, feeling good in the hand all the while.
