Papa Bear Pipes are made by North American artisan Tim Beaumont. Beaumont has been making pipes since 2018, cultivating a unique style that isn’t afraid to mix and match design elements and to create something completely out of the ordinary.

I just love what Tim Beaumont does with pipe shapes. His designs always seem to sit on the very borderline between recognizably traditional in influence, and something completely un-classifiable. This one is, I suppose, a poker of sorts. It sits like a poker, and has the sideways T-shape profile of one, but it’s also canted forward with a conical bowl, which would be more like a Dublin. But it also has bead-lines and a cap-like bowl, which pushes it into Rhodesian territory.

In any case, the pipe is beautiful. The bowl is expertly sculpted, with its bowl covered in vertical straight grain. The horn mount is similarly beautiful, and the perfect final addition to the overall design. And in case you’re wondering, yes, it does feel marvelous in the hand.
