Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our line of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts or spigot mounts.

There is a certain shape—or, rather, a way of approaching a shape—that began in Denmark through masters such as Preben Holm and Teddy Knudsen, but which has since become thoroughly embedded in American artisan pipe making. In fact, more recent renditions from Danish carvers appear to have also learned something from their American counterparts, such as Todd Johnson or Bruce Weaver, in rendering the shape in question. That shape is the volcano, with the modern, Scandi-American approach being a highly fluid, sloping design, defined more by its curved lines than by the straight ones found in traditional Anglo-French styles. This Silver line MBSD Meerschaum is our own contribution to that particular genre of volcano shapes, with the addition of a sterling army mount and a reverse calabash system.
