Description

Comoy’s is a historic brand in pipe making, and possibly the most historic brand in the making of briar pipes. Though originally founded in 1825 by a French family from Saint Claude, France, production of Comoy’s pipes was soon moved to London, England, where it established itself as one of the quintessential English pipe companies.

While Comoy’s are more known for their rather svelte, traditionally-shaped and -sized pipes, this one is uncommonly large – though still traditional in design. It’s a pot, but a magnum one, at around six and a half inches in length. It’s also got an impressively large and wide bowl and chamber, while still having good thick chamber walls. The grain is very nice, which if you know anything about making pipes, is very hard to consistently pull off for big pipes, owing to the greater risk of discovering briar flaws somewhere on the block.

As this Comoy’s has a three-part inlaid C logo on the stem, it will have been made prior to Comoy’s merger with Cadogan Investments in the 1980s. While there are a couple of worn out fills on the left side of the shank, the pipe is otherwise in outstanding condition. If you’re looking for something to give you a very long smoke – perhaps in the evening after the end of a hard day – then this pipe might just be the one for you.
