Burl King Sandblasted Magnum Freehand Estate Briar Pipe, Other Estates
Out of stock
Description
Research appears to indicate that Burl King pipes were made by the Shalom Pipe Factory, which makes sense given this one’s country of manufacture stamp. For reference, Shalom holds the title of being the only major pipe factory to have operated out of Israel. Over the years, Shalom put out pipes in a variety of styles, from classic English and French shapes to pipes with a more modern, Danish aesthetic. This one is a freehand in what was, of course, originally a Danish genre, though the shaping is far closer to its early adopters in the US, where bigger is, as the saying goes, always better. Thankfully, it has a well-placed thumb hole to help keep hold of it during the very long sessions its chamber promises, as well as some lovely, crisp, ring grain sandblasting (and a great bounty of plateaux).
The condition is very good. Some inner rim darkening and minor finish fading.
