Description

To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.

If you’re looking for a timeless, high quality smoking pipe, you’d be hard pressed to find something better than a 1960s Dunhill. While collectors covet patent-era Dunhills for their historic value, the 1960s are considered one of the best – if not the best –  periods in the brand’s manufacture. This 1967 Root Briar grade Dublin is certainly testament to that. It is well proportioned, lightweight, and the grain is spectacular. The bowl in particular is swimming in natural bird’s-eye grain, which the blonde Root Briar finish has brought out marvelously. The stamping is still quite crisp, the stem is in good shape, and aside from a little bit of rim char, the pipe is in a wonderful condition, especially given that it is over five decades old.
