Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
Debuting in the early 20th century, the Chesterfield was, in essence, KB&B’s answer to the Peterson System pipe. Then again, “answer” might not be quite the right word here, as the Chesterfield was really more of an “echo” of the Peterson System. Just like the latter, the Chesterfield had a reservoir in the base of the shank, and just like the latter, the Chesterfield had a button that was highly reminiscent of Peterson’s P-Lip. As this one still has the (slightly faded) KB&B cloverleaf logo engraved on its silver mount, it should be a pre-1955 pipe, after which S.M. Frank purchased the Kaywoodie make.
The condition great. Some minor wear to the rim.
