Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our line of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts or spigot mounts.

One of the shapes that kickstarted artisan briars as we know them was a rather strange creation by Sixten Ivarsson, which he dubbed the “Ukulele.” It is essentially a decidedly squat volcano shape, with a wide bowl and shank and an ever so slightly bent figure. Despite its strangeness, the shape was a genuine hit, so much so that Stanwell asked Ivarsson to design at least two versions for their catalog during the 1960s. In the decades since, the Ukulele has given way to similarly squat, wide shapes, such as the Eskimo and Inuit shapes of Ed Burak and Tom Eltang, along with plenty of others in that vein. This Silver line MBSD Meerschaum is one of our own contributions to that ongoing evolution, which in this instance includes a cool- and dry-smoking reverse calabash system nestled in the pipe’s shank.
