Stanwell’s shape 11 is one of the most renowned designs created for the company by legendary pipe-maker Sixten Ivarsson. A distinctly shaped, slightly bent pot, this example of the 11 is from Stanwell’s short lived ‘Antique’ line, which added partial sandblasting and an acrylic mount to existing designs.
Well preserved for its age, this rare pipe is a Danish pipe collector’s dream, offering a no longer produced variation on an iconic shape from the father of Danish design. The pipe was made at the Stanwell factory in Borup, Denmark, before the factory moved in 2009, and features an uncommonly used, flared vulcanite stem.
