Description

Every pipe smoker needs a tamper at some point. While some use old nails, Czech-style tools, or even their fingers (which MBSD does not recommend), many pipe smokers prefer to have something that is both sturdy and easy on the eyes – a true combination of function and form.

MBSD is very pleased to be offering tampers which are exactly that, and which are hand-made in America by artisan Roberto Perez. A farmer by trade, Perez is a skilled craftsman who finds joy in creating tampers and other accessories when he has the time. One particularly interesting aspect of Perez’s tampers (as well as his other creations) is that they are all made using reclaimed materials from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Perez makes tampers from antebellum silverware, fin de siècle mother of pearl, Art Deco Bakelite, and all manner of other things from times past.

This particular tamper from Roberto Perez was made from 19th century ornate American silver and early 20th century mother of pearl. It has a great feel to it, combining solid engineering and sturdiness without being overly heavy, as well as an eminently classy aesthetic.
