Preston Rogers is an American artisan pipe maker based in Lexington, Kentucky. A dedicated pipe smoker himself, Rogers began making pipes after becoming fascinated with contemporary handmade briars. His work draws inspiration from American artisan Jeff “J. Alan” Gracik, along with Danish makers and workshops such as Anne Julie, Nørding, Stanwell, and Bari.
Rogers’ tobacco pipes often pair compact, practical shaping with crisp rustication and creative partial finishes. Billiards, brandies, pots, and other familiar forms receive a contemporary character through hand-cut ebonite stems and carefully chosen accent materials, including spalted boxwood, spalted tamarind, ivorite, and contrasting ebonite. Many of his pipes are also lightweight and comfortably proportioned for regular use.
MBSD receives Preston Rogers pipes directly from the maker and offers them as new, handmade tobacco pipes. Because Rogers works on a small scale, available shapes, finishes, and accent materials will change as new pieces arrive.
